Characteristics of Children with Medulloblastoma at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital in 2021 - 2023.
Introduction Medulloblastoma (MB) is one of the most prevalent malignant CNS tumors in children. Identification of the characteristics of MB is crucial to improve treatment effectiveness and outcome. However, there has not been a lot of study regarding the characteristics of patients with MB in Indonesia. Therefore, this study aims to gain knowledge regarding the clinical, histological, and molecular characteristics of childhood MB in Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital, in order to improve the future prognosis of MB in Indonesia. Method This study uses a retrospective observational longitudinal study design by collecting medical records of pediatric medulloblastoma patients diagnosed from January 2021 to December 2023 in Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital. Results A total of 15 patients were analyzed in this study. There were slightly more male patients with a ratio of male to female of 1 : 1.14. The median age on diagnosis was 7 ([min – max], 1 – 16) years old, in which 26.7% were < 3 years old and 73.3% were >3 years old. Conclusion The mortality of the patients was 33.3%. Majority of subjects had characteristics of age ≥3 years old, females, DN histopathological subtype, non-WNT molecular subtype, residual tumor >1.5cm², M0, and high risk. A higher mortality was found in MB children with female gender, age ≥3 years old, no information of histopathological subtype, no information of molecular subtype, residual tumor
