Persepsi Pasien Tuberkulosis yang Merokok terhadap Penyakit yang Dialaminya di RSUP Persahabatan Tahun 2024-2025 = Perceptions of Cigarette Smoking Patients Towards Their Tuberculosis in RSUP Persahabatan Jakarta Year 2024-2025.

Latar Belakang Tuberkulosis merupakan salah satu masalah kesehatan utama di dunia dan memiliki kaitan erat dengan kebiasaan merokok. Namun penelitian mengenai persepsi pasien Tuberkulosis terhadap kebiasaan merokok masih terbatas. Memahami persepsi pasien yang merokok terhadap penyakit mereka penting dalam membantu proses penyembuhan penyakit. Metode Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian cross-sectional dan dilaksanakan di RSUP Persahabatan Jakarta pada bulan April – Oktober 2025. Sampel dikumpulkan dengan metode consecutive sampling dengan jumlah total 67 pasien Tuberkulosis. Kuesioner yang mencakup Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) dan Indeks Brinkman untuk kriteria konsumsi rokok diberikan kepada pasien yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi. Analisis deskriptif dilaksanakan untuk merangkum karakterisik pasien, perilaku merokok, serta persepsi terhadap merokok dan diagnosis Tuberkulosis yang mereka alami. Hasil Mayoritas responden adalah laki-laki (98,5%) dan berusia 30-64 tahun (68,7%). Hanya 17,9% pasien Tuberkulosis yang masih aktif merokok setelah diagnosis dan 82,1% sudah berhenti merokok. Umumnya, perokok aktif menunjukan tingkat ketergantungan nikotin (FTND) kategori rendah (41,7%). Terkait persepsi, sebagian besar responden memahami hubungan antara merokok dengan penyakit mereka (71,6%) dan menyadari dampak rokok terhadap kesehatan orang sekitar (82,1%). Mayoritas pasien yang masih merokok memiliki rencana untuk berhenti merokok (83,3%) dan hampir seluruh pasien yang sudah berhenti merokok berkomitmen untuk berhenti selamanya (96,4%). Kesimpulan Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa persepsi pasien memiliki peran pada perilaku merokok pasien Tuberkulosis. Diperlukan penelitian lebih lanjut untuk menciptakan pendekatan berhenti merokok yang komprehensif.

Introduction Tuberculosis is one of the major global health problems and is closely associated with smoking behavior. However, research on the perceptions of tuberculosis patients regarding their smoking habits remains limited. Understanding the perceptions of patients who smoke about their illness is important in supporting the treatment and recovery process. Method This study is employed using a cross-sectional study method and was conducted at RSUP Persahabatan Jakarta between April and October 2025. The samples are collected using a consecutive sampling method, resulting in a total of 67 tuberculosis patients. A questionnaire, which included the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND) and the Brinkman Index for smoking consumption criteria, was administered to patients that met the inclusion criteria. Descriptive analysis was done to summarize patients’ characteristics, smoking behaviors, and their perceptions of smoking and their tuberculosis diagnosis. Results The majority of respondents were male (98.5%) and aged between 30 and 64 years (68.7%). Only 17.9% of tuberculosis patients continued to smoke after diagnosis, while 82.1% had quit. Among active smokers, most demonstrated a low level of nicotine dependence according to the Fagerström Test for Nicotine Dependence (41.7%). In terms of perception, the majority of respondents recognized the association between smoking and their disease (71.6%) and acknowledged the harmful effects of smoking on the health of others (82.1%). Majority of patients who continued smoking had plans to quit (83.3%), and almost all patients who had already quit were committed to stopping permanently (96.4%). Conclusion This study concludes that patient perceptions play a role in the smoking behavior of tuberculosis patients. Further research is needed to develop a more comprehensive smoking cessation approach.
