Volume Hippocampus Pada Populasi Dewasa Normal Berdasarkan Pemeriksaan MRI Di RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo = Hippocampus Volume in Normal Adult Population Based on MRI Examination at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo.

Latar Belakang: Volume hippocampus normal penting untuk diketahui dalam menentukan diagnosis dan manajemen beberapa penyakit seperti Alzheimer disease, epilepsi, dan mild cognitive impairment. Pemeriksaan MRI merupakan modalitas pilihan untuk mengevaluasi volume dan struktur hippocampus. Berbagai studi telah dilakukan oleh peneliti dari berbagai negara dan didapatkan volume hippocampus yang berbeda. Di Indonesia, belum tersedia data mengenai volume hippocampus normal pada populasi dewasa. Metode: 61 pasien memenuhi kriteria penelitian dilakukan pengukuran volume hippocampus. Analisis deskriptif dilakukan pada volume hippocampus dengan data dalam bentuk rerata dan standar deviasi. Analisis perbandingan internal untuk menilai perbedaan volume hippocampus antar sisi hippocampus maupun perbedaan antar jenis kelamin dilakukan dengan uji Student t tidak berpasangan. Hasil: Nilai rerata dan standar deviasi volume hippocampus total adalah 8443,5 ± 711,8 mm3, dengan rerata dan standar deviasi volume hippocampus kanan sebesar 4323,5 ± 384,9 mm3 dan kiri sebesar 4120,1 ± 357,3 mm3. Nilai rerata dan standar deviasi volume hippocampus kanan yang dinormalisasi sebesar 2979,4 ± 272,6 mm3, volume hippocampus kiri yang dinormalisasi sebesar 2775,9 ± 266,8 mm3, dan volume hippocampus total yang dinormalisasi sebesar 5755,3 ± 496.1 mm3. Volume hippocampus laki-laki lebih besar dibandingkan kelompok perempuan secara signifikan. Namun temuan ini menjadi tidak bermakna secara statistik ketika dilakukan normalisasi volume hippocampus menggunakan volume intrakranial. Terdapat pula perbedaan signifikan antara volume hippocampus kanan dan kiri, dengan hippocampus kanan lebih besar dibandingkan kiri.

Background: Normal hippocampus volume is important to know in determining the diagnosis and management of several diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, and mild cognitive impairment. MRI examination is the modality of choice to evaluate the volume and structure of the hippocampus. Various studies have been carried out by researchers from various countries and obtained different hippocampus volumes. In Indonesia, there is no data available regarding normal hippocampus volume in the adult population. Methods: 61 patients who met the study criteria had hippocampal volume measured. Descriptive analysis was carried out on hippocampal volume with data in the form of mean and standard deviation. Internal comparison analysis to assess differences in hippocampal volume between sides of the hippocampus and differences between genders was carried out using the unpaired Student t test. Results: The mean and standard deviation of the total hippocampus volume was 8443.5 ± 711.8 mm3, with the mean and standard deviation of the right hippocampus volume being 4323.5 ± 384.9 mm3 and the left being 4120.1 ± 357.3 mm3. The mean and standard deviation of the normalized right hippocampus volume was 2979.4 ± 272.6 mm3, the normalized left hippocampus volume was 2775.9 ± 266.8 mm3, and the normalized total hippocampus volume was 5755.3 ± 496.1 mm3. The volume of the male hippocampus was significantly larger than that of the female group. However, this finding became statistically insignificant when normalizing the hippocampal volume using intracranial volume. There is also a significant difference between the volume of the right and left hippocampus, with the right hippocampus being larger than the left.
