Faktor Yang Berperan Terhadap Aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase pada Pekerja Perkeretaapian = Factors Affecting Superoxide Dismutase Activity in Railway Workers in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Latar Belakang. Pekerja perkeretaapian terpajan banyak faktor risiko kesehatan di tempat kerja yang mungkin menyebabkan stres oksidatif. Aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) merupakan salah satu biomarker yang merespon stres oksidatif. Tujuan. Studi ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase pada pekerja perkeretaapian di Jakarta, Indonesia. Metode. Penelitian dengan desain potong lintang dilakukan pada bulan Juli-Oktober 2021. Sebanyak 84 subjek berpartisipasi di dalam penelitian ini. Data mengenai karakteristik subjek, intensitas aktivitas fisik, menggunakan Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) versi 2 dan tingkat stres menggunakan Holmes-Rahe Stress Inventory diperoleh secara online menggunakan google forms. Tekanan darah, kondisi telinga dan lingkar pinggang diperoleh dari pemeriksaan fisik. Metode spektrofotometri digunakan untuk mengukur aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase dan HbA1c dalam darah. Analisis univariat, bivariat dan multivariat menggunakan uji chi-square dan uji regresi logistik. Hasil. Proporsi pekerja administratif yang memiliki aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase tinggi sebanyak 33 subjek (78,6%), dimana lebih tinggi dibandingkan masinis yang sebanyak 14 subjek (33,3%). Probabilitas aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase tinggi pada pekerja administratif adalah 7,1 kali lebih besar dibandingkan pada masinis (aOR = 7.1, p = < 0.001, 95% interval kepercayan = 2.65-19.15). Kesimpulan. Faktor determinan yang memengaruhi aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase adalah jenis pekerjaan. Pekerja administratif memiliki aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan masinis. Penelitian selanjutnya diperlukan untuk mengkaji faktor-faktor yang belum dapat dikaji dalam penelitian ini terutama pada masinis secara lebih dalam untuk mencegah pajanan faktor-faktor tersebut memengaruhi aktivitas Superoxide Dismutase lebih lanjut.

BACKGROUND. Railway workers are exposed to many occupational health risk factors which may cause oxidative stress. Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) activity is one of the response biomarkers of oxidative stress. METHODS. A cross-sectional study was conducted on July-October 2021. Eighty-four participants were included in this study. Data about participants’ characteristics, physical activity intensity using Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) version 2, and stress levels using Holmes-Rahe Stress Inventory were obtained through online data collecting using Google Forms. Blood pressure, ear condition, and waist circumference were obtained from the physical examination. The spectrophotometry assay method measured blood Superoxide Dismutase activity and HbA1c levels. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were done using chi-square test and logistic regression. RESULTS. The proportion of administrative workers with high Superoxide Dismutase activities were 33 subjects (78.6%), which is higher than train drivers with 14 subjects (33.3%). The probability of high Superoxide Dismutase activity occurring in administrative workers was 7.1 times greater than in train drivers (aOR = 7.1, p-value = < 0.001, 95% CI limits = 2.65-19.15). CONCLUSION. The determinant factor that affected the Superoxide Dismutase activity was the type of work. Administrative workers had higher Superoxide Dismutase activity compared to train drivers. Future study is needed to analyze factors that had not been able to analyzed in this study especially in train drivers in deeper exploration to prevent the factors affecting Superoxide Dismutase activity furthermore.
