Efek Akupunktur Terhadap Gambaran Histologi Ginjal Tikus Sprage Dawley dengan Diabetes Mellitus Tipe II = Acupuncture Effect on Kidney Histological Finding of Sprague Dawley Rat Type II Diabetes Mellitus.

Pendahuluan: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) terutama DM tipe II merupakan salah satu penyakit degeneratif yang memiliki peningkatan insiden dalam dekade terakhir. Komplikasi mikrovaskular yang sering ditemui pada DM tipe II adalah penyakit ginjal akibat diabetes. Akupunktur merupakan bentuk pengobatan yang telah banyak digunakan pada pengobatan diabetes dan penyakit akibat komplikasi diabetes. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah melihat efek akupunktur terhadap gambaran histologi ginjal yang diinduksi DM tipe II terhadap ginjal. Metode : Penelitian ini mengamati jaringan ginjal secara histologi di bawah mikroskop cahaya. Sampel diambil dari organ ginjal hewan coba dari penelitian sebelumnya yang membuktikan bahwa STZ dapat menyebabkan hiperglikemia akibat kerusakan sel b pankreas. Sampel sebanyak 18 ginjal yang terdiri dari kelompok kontrol, kelompok DM dan kelompok DM+Akupunktur. Kemudian masing-masing ginjal diproses hingga menjadi preparat dan dipulas menggunakan Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) dan Masson’s Trichrome (MT). Dilakukan pengamatan dan analisis pada endotel, podosit, sel mesangial, membran basal pada glomerulus, dan sel-sel tubulus ginjal serta ada tidak nya pembentukkan jaringan ikat di setiap kelompok. Hasil-hasil yang diperoleh kemudian di uji secara statistik. Hasil : Didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna terhadap kerusakan sel-sel tubulus ginjal antara kelompok kontrol dengan kelompok DM. Sebaliknya tidak didapatkan adanya perbedaan bermakna terhadap kerusakan sel-sel tubulus ginjal antara kelompok kontrol dibandingkan kelompok DM + Akupunktur. Tidak didapatkan perbedaan bermakna pada kerusakan sel endotel dan podosit, penebalan membran basal dan densitas mesangial antara kelompok kontrol dengan kelompok DM dan kelompok DM dengan kelompok DM+Akupunktur. Kesimpulan : Pemberian akupunktur pada tikus DM Tipe II dapat memperbaiki kerusakan sel-sel tubulus ginjal

Introduction: Diabetes Mellitus (DM), especially DM type II is a degenerative disease that has an increasing incidence in the last decade. Microvascular complications that are often encountered in type II DM are kidney disease due to diabetes. Acupuncture has been widely used in the treatment of diabetes and complications of diabetes. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of acupuncture on the renal histology induced by type II DM on the kidneys. Methods : This study observes kidney tissue histologically under a light microscope. Samples were taken from the kidney organs of experimental animals from previous studies which proved that STZ can cause hyperglycemia due to damage to pancreatic b cells. A sample of 18 kidneys consisted of a control group, a DM group and a DM+Acupuncture group. Then each kidney was processed into preparations and stained using Hematoxylin Eosin (HE) and Masson's Trichrome (MT). Observations and analyzes were carried out on endothelium, podocytes, mesangial cells, glomerular basement membrane, and renal tubular cells as well as the presence or absence of connective tissue formation in each group. The results obtained were then tested statistically. Results : There were significant differences in renal tubular cell damage between the control group and the DM group. On the other hand, there was no significant difference in renal tubular cell damage between the control group and the DM + Acupuncture group. There were no significant differences in endothelial and podocyte cell damage, basement membrane thickening and mesangial density between the control group and the DM group and the DM group and the DM+Acupuncture group. Conclusion: Administration of acupuncture in Type II DM rats can repair damage to renal tubular cells
