The Relationship between the Help Seeking Reasons and Years of Marriage among Domestic Violence Victims in Policlinic Department of Psychiatry RSCM Jakarta = Hubungan Antara Alasan Mencari Bantuan dan Lama Pernikahan Diantara Korban Kasus Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga di Poliklinik Departemen Psikiatri RSCM Jakarta.

Introduction. Domestic violence (DV) is an act of power abuse by threatening or taking control over a person who are either blood-related or relationships that are gained by marriage. Some victims would choose to stay silent while some are trying to seek for help for many reasons and one of the reasons is to get a divorce. With the inclined of incidence each year, there is still lack of awareness from the society on the impact of DV to the victims, specifically women. This research will focus on the relationship between help seeking reasons and years of marriage among domestic violence patients.
Methods. This research is a cross-sectional and retrospective research by using secondary data involving the help seeking reasons and years of marriage among domestic violence patients. The data is taken from Domestic Violence Report Book from Psychiatric Department RSCM from 2013-2017 and also from the medical record. Gamma correlation test is used to find the correlation coefficient and the relationship between two ordinal categorical variables.
Results. There were a total of 58 subjects of DV patients with mean age of marriage is 8 years with different help-seeking reasons that were divided into: to get a divorce (44,8%), to get the husband sentenced (17,2%) and to change the husband’s behavior (37,9%). Based on the age of marriage, marriage of less than 5 years have the highest reason to seek for help as to want the husband’s behavior to change, while those who are married for more than 15 years have the tendency to seek for help as to get a divorce from their husband. The correlation test showed there is no significant between two variables as p value = 0.179 and there is a weak negative correlation between two variables as Gamma test shows the result of -0.221.
Conclusion. Help-seeking reasons does not correlate or determined based on the age of marriage of DV patients and the hypothesis is not accepted as those who are married for more than 15 years have the tendency to get a divorce. However, it is true based on the prevalence that those who are in early years of marriage have the tendency to experience domestic violence as it has the highest frequency based on the data. There is still lack of studies on the relationship between help-seeking reasons and the age of marriage, thus further studies regarding other factors affecting the helpseeking reasons may be done to further investigate the reasons.

Pendahuluan. Kekerasan Dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) merupakan sebuah tindakan penyalahgunaan kekuasaan dengan cara mengancam atau mengambil alih hak seseorang. Dengan meningkatnya jumlah kejadian KDRT, namun pengetahuan masyarakat umum masih minim mengenai hal ini. Riset ini fokus terhadap hubungan antara alasan mencari bantuan dan juga usia perkawinan diantara korban KDRT.
Metode. Riset ini menggunakan metode cross-sectional dan retrospective dengan data sekunder untuk mencari hubungan antara usia perkawinan dengan alasan mencari bantuan diantara pasien yang mengalami KDRT. Data diambil dari laporan jaga Departemen Psikiatri RSCM dari tahun 2013-2017 dan juga dari rekam medik. Riset ini menggunakan korelasi tes Gamma untuk mencari koefisien korelasi dan juga hubungan antara dua variable kategori ordinal.
Hasil. Dengan total 58 subjek penelitian, rata-rata usia pernikahan adalah 8 tahun dengan alasan mencari bantuan dibagi menjadi tiga yaitu untuk bercerai (44,8%), menginginkan suami untuk dihukum (17,2%) dan menginginkan sikap suami untuk berubah (37,9). Pernikahan dengan lama waktu kurang dari 5 tahun menunjukkan lebih banyak memilih untuk mencari bantuan agar sikap suami dapat berubah, kontras dengan usia perkawinan lebih dari 15 tahun dengan alasan mencari bantuan untuk bercerai. Tidak adanya hubungan yang signifikan diantara kedua variabel dengan nilai p = 0.179 dan uji korelasi Gamma menunjukkan hasil -0.221 yang mengindikasikan hubungan korelasi negatif dan lemah.
Kesimpulan. Alasan mencari bantuan dan usia perkawinan tidak saling berhubungan, pasien dengan usia perkawinan lebih dari 15 tahun memiliki kecenderungan untuk mencari bantuan untuk bercerai. Masih terdapat kekurangan dalam studi ini dan diperlukan studi lebih lanjut dengan menggunakan faktor-faktor lainnya seperti latar belakang budaya, latar belakang pekerjaan, dan sebagainya untuk mengetahui factor lain yang dapat mempengaruhi alasan mencari bantuan.
