Hypertension has been shown to be a risk factor for cerebral structural changes, but there is currently no evidence that hypertension control prevents their occurrence. We aimed to demonstrate whether controlling hypertension delays the occurrence of cerebral structural changes. We performed a cross-sectional study comparing controlled and uncontrolled hypertensive patients to investigate whether structural changes occurred more in uncontrolled hypertensive patients, compared to controlled hypertensive patients.
