Scabies Prevalence among Students in Islamic Boarding School in the Year of 2011, 2012 and 2014 = Prevalensi Skabies pada Santri di Pondok Pesantren pada tahun 2011, 2012 dan 2014.

Scabies is a disease with a high prevalence particularly in crowded residencies such as boarding school. In Jakarta Timur there is Islamic boarding schools known with its high rate of scabies prevalence for the last several years, in which certain intervention has been done during those of years. This research is conducted with the aim to observe the prevalence of scabies in the year of 2014 and the previous years: 2011 and 2012, in which similar study had been done. This repeated cross-sectional study was conducted on March 8th 2014, involving 189 subjects. Diagnosis of scabies was made by anamnesis and dermatology examination. The data collected was analyzed using SPSS 20 with chi-square test. The scabies prevalence in the year of 2014 was 23.8%, which is lower compared to the year of 2011 (51.6%) and 2012 (51.6%). Using chi-square test, the p value obtained is 0.000, meaning that there’s a significant difference of scabies prevalence in the year of 2011, 2012 and 2014. The decline of scabies prevalence among those periods of years is due to the massive treatment and education regarding healthy and hygienic lifestyle conducted by the researcher along with the help of dermatologists involved.

Skabies adalah penyakit kulit dengan prevalensi tinggi di Indomesia, terutama di tempat tinggal dengan penghuni yang padat seperti pesantren. Sebuah pesantren di Jakarta Timur diketahui memiliki prevalensi skabies yang tinggi sehingga dilakukan intervensi pada beberapa tahun terakhir. Riset ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui prevalensi skabies pada tahun 2014 dibandingkan 2011 dan 2012. Studi repeated cross-sectional ini dilakukan pada tanggal 8 Maret 2014 dengan subjek 189 orang. Diagnosis skabies ditetapkan melalui anamnesis dan pemeriksaan dermatologis. Data dianalisis menggunakan program SPSS 20 dengan uji chi-square. Pada tahun 2014 diperoleh prevalensi skabies 23,8%, lebih rendah dibandingkan tahun 2011 (51,6%) dan 2012 (51.6%). Dengan uji chi-square didapatkan nilai p=0,000 yang berarti terdapat perbedaan signifikan terhadap prevalensi skabies pada santri tahun 2011, 2012 dan 2014. Penurunan prevalensi skabies disebabkan pengobatan masal dan penyuluhan kesehatan mengenai pola hidup bersih dan sehat yang dilakukan oleh peneliti beserta bantuan dari dokter spesialis kulit.
