Gambaran Risiko Tuberkulosis pada Pasien Diabetes Mellitus di Ternate Tahun 2014 = Risk of Tuberculosis in Patients with Diabetes Mellitus in Ternate in 2014.

Diabetes melitus (DM) diketahui meningkatkan risiko terjadinya tuberkulosis (TB) melalui penurunan imunitas tubuh. Pada daerah dengan prevalensi DM yang tinggi, masyarakat dengan faktor-faktor risiko TB lebih rentan mengalami DM-TB. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui besarnya risiko TB pada pasien DM berdasarkan proporsi faktor-faktor risiko TB di Ternate, Indonesia, yang merupakan daerah dengan prevalensi TB dan DM yang tinggi. Pada penelitian ini, sebanyak 30,5% responden memiliki DM-TB; sebanyak 11,7% responden memiliki IMT rendah, dengan dua-pertiga diantaranya (66,6%) memiliki DM-TB; sebanyak 15,6% responden memiliki suspek TB di keluarga, dengan hampir setengahnya (41,6%) memiliki DM-TB; dan sebanyak 32,5% responden memiliki riwayat merokok, dengan hampir setengahnya (44%) memiliki DM-TB. Hasil ini menunjukkan Ternate sangat rentan terhadap komorbiditas DM-TB.

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is known to increase the risk of tuberculosis (TB) through the decreasing immune system. In area with high prevalence of DM, there is a higher risk of DM-TB in the community with risk factors of TB. This study aims to find how big the risk of TB is in DM patients based on the proportion of TB risk factors in Ternate, Indonesia, where the prevalence of TB and DM are high. This study shows that 30,5% subjects has DM-TB; 11,7% subjects have low BMI, with twothirds
of them (66,6%) have DM-TB; 15,6% subjects have TB suspects in family, with almost half of them (41,6%) have DM-TB; and 32,5% subjects have history of smoking, with almost half of them (44%) have DM-TB. The result shows that people in Ternate is more susceptible to DM-TB comorbidity.
