The High Sensitivity and Specificity of Biorad NS1 Ag Strip in Dengue Infection Patient in Indonesia. = Tingginya Sensitivitas dan Spesifisitas dari Biorad NS1Ag Strip di Infeksi Dengi Pasien di Indonesia.

Dengue Infection is a common health problem worldwide, including Indonesia, with a flu-like symptoms. NS1 antigen is known to be a diagnostic marker for dengue. The purpose of this study was to investigate the sensitivity and specificity of Biorad NS1 Ag Strip as a diagnostic kit for dengue infection. The study used cohort study with consecutive sampling as the research design. The number of patients that contribute in this research is 102 people with fever less than 48 hours. Reverse Transcription- Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR), virus isolation and increase of antibody titre were used as a gold standard. Besides that the serotypes of the virus was also determined by RT-PCR. SPSS version 17.0 was used as the main statistical tool. From 102 patients, we found 68 (68.3%) patients were considered positive dengue infection patients. With the confirmation of RT-PCR, we found that the patients were infected with dengue virus serotype 1 (DENV-1) were 17 (16.7%), DENV-2 were 21 (20.5%), DENV-3 were 16 (15.7%), and DENV-4 were 4 (3.9%) respectively. Biorad NS-1 Ag Strip has the sensitivity of 82.1% and 93.4% for the specificity. The sensitivity and specificity of the strip are high in determining acute dengue infection.
