Pre-post study analysis regarding self-protection behaviour against helminths infection in students in Pacet, Cianjur 2011. = Analisis studi pre-post tentang perilaku perlindungan diri terhadap infeksi helminths pada siswa madrasah di Pacet, Cianjur 2011.

Soil-transmitted helminths (STH) infection is one of the most common and prevalent disease in Indonesia. It is most commonly found in rural areas, especially in children residing in those areas. This disease could cause growth and developmental retardation. The purpose of this research is to prevent further STH infection by means of finding out the effectiveness of health education regarding the self-protective behavior against STH infection in students in Madrasah X, Pacet, Cianjur. The design of this research was a pre-post study of which the data was taken on 10th of September 2011 by means of distributing questionnaires containing questions regarding self-protective behavior against STH infection to 49 students from 3 grades (total population). The data obtained from the questionnaires are processed with SPSS 11.5. the result shows that from the total population, most are females (51%), third grader (28.6%), positive self- infected history (57.1%) and positive surrounding infected history (77.6%). The Mann- Whitney/Kruskal-Wallis tests proved that there were no association between knowledge level before health education & delta score and gender (p=0.013), grade (p=0.787), self-infected history (p=0.0699), and surrounding infected history (p=0.048). before the health education, the median score was 62 (30-80), after health education, the median score improved to 80 (40-100). The Wilcoxon test proved that there is a significant difference between the health education and knowledge level (p=0.00). and thus it can be concluded that the health education imposed a significant effect on the knowledge level of students regarding self-protective behavior regarding STH infection.

Infeksi STH (soil-transmitted helminths) merupakan salah satu penyakit dengan prevalensi tinggi yang sering ditemukan di daerah pedesaan dan pertanian di Indonesia. Penyakit ini amat banyak ditemukan terutama pada anak-anak, yang dapat menyebabkan pertumbuhan dan perkembangan yang terhambat. Tujuan riset ini adalah untuk mengupayakan pencegahan infeksi STH lebih lanjut dengan cara menganalisis efektivitas penyuluhan kesehatan tentang perilaku perlindungan diri terhadap infeksi STH pada murid di Madrasah X, Pacet, Cianjur. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan desain pre-post study pada tanggal 10 September 2011 dengan cara pengisian kuisioner berisi pertanyaan tentang perilaku perlindungan diri terhadap infeksi STH kepada 49 siswa dari 3 kelas (total populasi). Data dari kuisioner diolah dengan SPSS 11.5, dimana hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa dari total populasi, responden terbanyak adalah wanita (51%) kelas tiga (28.6%) riwayat infeksi terdahulu yang positif (57.1%) dan riwayat terinfeksi dari orang-orang di sekitar yang positif (77.6%). Uji Mann-Whitney/Kruskal-Wallis membuktikan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara tingkat pengetahuan sebelum penyuluhan kesehatan dan delta score dengan jenis kelamin (p=0.013), kelas (p=0.787), riwayat infeksi terdahulu (p=0.669), dan riwayat infeksi sekitar (p=0,048). sebelum penyuluhan kesehatan, nilai median adalah 62 (30-80) dan setelah penyuluhan kesehatan, skor median mengalami peningkatan menjadi 80 (40-100). Uji Wilcoxon membuktikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan bermakna pada tingkat pengetahuan siswa-siswi sebelum dan sesudah penyuluhan kesehatan (p=0.00). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penyuluhan kesehatan memiliki efek yang signifikan terhadap tingkat pengetahuan siswa tentang perilaku perlindungan diri terhadap infeksi STH.
