Determining Risk Factor of Stone Induced-Renal Cancer: A Retrospective Cohort Study = Penentuan Faktor Risiko Stone-Induced Renal Cancer: Studi Kohort Retrospektif.

Background: Kidney stones affect about 5% of people globally. The incidence and prevalence increased by some medical conditions like obesity or diabetes. Kidney stones are often associated with chronic inflammation and infection. Chronic inflammation could trigger an alteration in urothelial cell proliferation. That will lead to the development of tumors. This association can also be explained through common risk factors between kidney stones and renal cell carcinoma. We try to determine the risk factor of stone-induced-renal cell carcinoma at Adam Malik General Hospital. Methods: This study was conducted at Adam Malik General Hospital by taking medical record reports between July 2014 and August 2020 of patients with nephrectomy for kidney stones. Data such as identity, smoking status, (body mass index) BMI, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and kidney stones are extracted. Patients diagnosed with cancer through histopathological examination will be analyzed to estimate adjusted odds ratios independently and in conjunction with another variable. The odds ratio will be changed on age, smoking status, BMI, hypertension, and diabetes mellitus. The single variable was analyzed using chisquare, then multivariate analysis was conducted using linear regression. Results: A total of 80 who underwent nephrectomy due to nephrolithiasis were included in the study, with an average of 48.77±7.23 years old; 48 (60%) of those were aged
